As Republicans, we are dedicated to the well-being of our Nevada seniors. We have been called the Grand “Old” Party due to our high numbers of seniors. And we're proud of that!

Republicans have a comprehensive view of our mature citizens. Seniors have multiple priorities. They are invested in the future. Their children are important to them; their grandchildren are important to them. Their legacy matters. Defending what they have worked for their entire lives, whether against fraud or excessive taxation, is imperative.

Republicans do NOT intend to take senior benefits away. Obligations to seniors must be honored. The last Republican president increased (not decreased) those benefits. Rather than eliminate these programs, Republicans support eliminating inefficiencies that threaten their solvency. Senior entitlement programs must be reformed in order to be financially sound and secure, not just for current seniors, but for future seniors.

We support Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medigap supplementals; we want seniors to have a choice of quality health plans and providers. We support flexibility in how Nevada administers Medicaid, which serves eligible seniors yet creates financial obligations of which many are unaware (e.g., property liens.) We support eliminating, to the extent possible, regulations that impede cost-reducing market competition. We support providers being directly accountable to patients (not bureaucrats) for their quality of care. Finally, we will work with state government to pass legislation, if necessary, that protects the rights of seniors despite the economic reality that we must do more with less.

Government (federal, state and local) has created multiple programs to assist seniors. In addition, private organizations and charities provide many valuable senior services. We encourage those in need of assistance and/or information to examine our listing of Senior Resources.
