GOVERNOR LOMBARDO PROCLAIMS SCHOOL CHOICE WEEK IN NEVADA

What is School Choice in Nevada?

Nevada has many high quality public and non-public schooling options for children to obtain an effective education, setting them up for success in college and/or a career. School choice and education freedom allows parents and students to choose from a variety of educational options, ensuring academic achievement, a diversified economy, and enhanced communities.

Leader Seevers Gansert has a bill that will stabilize and expand Opportunity Scholarships, ensuring vulnerable students have the chance to meet their educational needs.

Assistant Leader Buck will bring forth several bills related to ensuring high quality school options in Nevada. One of her bills will require consistently poor performing schools to be turned over and governed by the Nevada State Board of Education and State Superintendent before being placed into receivership for persistently failing to deliver a quality education to students. Another one of her priorities is to allocate school facility funding to public charter schools in order to provide equity for public charter school students.

Senator Stone, Minority Southern Whip, will offer legislation that echoes Governor Lombardo’s promise to increase pay for Nevada teachers, safeguarding the State’s objective to become more competitive in attracting and retaining more professionals.
