(Henderson, NV) – The Senate Republican Caucus today endorsed Dr. Carrie Buck’s candidacy for Senate District 5.

“Dr. Buck has demonstrated her commitment to the students, parents and teachers of Nevada,” said Senate Minority Leader James Settelmeyer. “Her experience is critically needed in Carson City.”

Dr. Buck has an extensive background in education. She served as an elementary classroom teacher, an English Language Learner Specialist and Adult Trainer, an Assistant Principal, and a Principal for the Clark County School District.

“Dr. Buck is effective because she cares for every one of Nevada’s students. She works diligently to ensure they have the opportunity to succeed,” said Senator Joe Hardy. “I have deep admiration for her experience helping improve public education in Southern Nevada.”

Dr. Buck has been a passionate advocate for Nevada schools for the past 20 years. She spent 8 years as Principal at C.T. Sewell Elementary School. From 2006 to 2012, student achievement at Sewell Elementary increased more than any other school in Henderson.

“Dr. Buck is a tireless advocate in the effort to improve public education,” added Senator Heidi Gansert. “She will continue to be a champion for all students in Nevada and has earned the respect of educators across the country.”

Buck is a 22-year resident of Henderson, Nevada.
