Ira Hansen
Prior to be being elected to the Nevada Senate in 2018, Senator Hansen served four regular and four special sessions in the Nevada Assembly from 2011-2017, where he also performed as the Assembly Republican Assistant Leader in 2015. Outside of his work for the state, Senator Hansen is a licensed master plumber and contractor, owning one of Northern Nevada’s premier plumbing companies. He is also heavily involved in civic, religious, and business affairs within the community.

In 2019, Nevada had the first female-majority state legislature in the nation, with women holding 52 percent of legislative seats. 67 Percent in the Assembly.
Nevada produced the first blue jeans. Jacob Davis, Reno-based Latvian tailor, teamed up with Levi Strauss and together they invented the first pair of blue jeans.
On March 1, 1869, Nevada was the first state to ratify the 15th Amendment, which gave voting rights to African-American men.
